You Can't Have Me, I'm Not Done Yet, I'm Too Strong!

Part 2: Practicing Self-Care and Positive Self-Talk

Self-care is a vital part of preventing and managing burnout. It’s not just about taking occasional breaks or treating yourself to something special; it’s about consistently prioritizing your mental, emotional, and physical health. By nurturing yourself, you build resilience against stress and exhaustion.

It may seem insignificant or even silly, but every day when I wake up, I look myself in the mirror and repeat several positive affirmations. This literally boosts my mood and lends me an increase of a positive attitude. By molding this frame of mind into something that I feel I can control, it helps me see the day’s activities in a different light. I can also see the response of others to my positivity. When greeted, I always try to come across as happy and outgoing. Especially during those times when I actually feel down or otherwise occupied in negative self-talk.
